S.E.A. is pleased to present SPRING 春 regenerate a group exhibition from March 5 through April 2, 2022, at a brand new location in Silver Lake, Los Angeles.
After global pandemic lockdowns, the world is finally coming back out. SPRING 春 regenerate celebrates the creative power of spring and the flowering of artwork from the past few years.
Environmentally conscious, the artists use natural materials and found natural objects (recycled) that are both ecological and connected to traditional arts. Minoru Ohira’s use of wood, Echiko Ohira’s paper and cloth collages, Randy Colosky’s oil on Belgian linen cloth painting.
Minoru Ohira won numerous sculpture awards internationally, Echiko Ohira recently had a solo exhibition at a craft contemporary museum in LA. She was also one of the artists for the National Museum of Women in Art’s group exhibition called Paper Rotes. The three artists' works have been exhibited and collected at museums including LACMA, Museum of Craft and Folk Art, Berkley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, National Museum of Women in the Art, Craft Contemporary Museum, Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, Hokkaido Asahikawa Museum of Art, Mexico National Museum of Art, and Taipei Museum of Art. This is the first show in Los Angeles for Randy Colosky, who recently relocated from the Bay Area.
SPRING 春 regenerate is also a multi-generation-spanning exhibition, there is a small area for recent paintings by Tomoaki Shibata, a space design installation by Kengo Kawagashira (architectural designer) it transcends traditional genre distinctions followed by Takeshi Kanemura’s performance (Shoka) at the opening reception and the ohigan artist talk day. Shoka = sublimation.
